I’m having boys! Two of them – twins, to be exact. I’ve always wanted to have twins; two people so similar means they’ll never be alone and they’ll never crave for understanding from someone else. Plus, twins make heads turn; they’re specific and interesting to watch and hang out with. But, enough for my obsession and love for twins; I’m getting the house prepared for when they come to this world and currently I’m designing their bedroom. Sure they’ll have one large bedroom they’ll share. so I want to it be all fancy, modern, comfortable and most importantly, to have that male spirit written on all four walls.
My husband is an interior designer, so when he resolutely refused my idea to paint all walls in blue – I had no choice; I accepted defeat and went with his suggestion: completely white walls. Luckily, Pinterest come to my rescue, and I found some amazing wall designs with blue wallpapers. I showed him what I wanted to do and we managed to compromise: he got his white walls, and I chose blue wallpaper designs to decorate that eternal, boring whiteness. I have almost all details already chosen: the cradles, the baby changing tables, and the large sofa for me. Once they grow older, the nursery is going to become their bedroom. However, my wish is for the walls to stay the same. So, here are a few fancy ideas that I came up with.
Clear blue sky ceiling
While being still little babies sleeping in their small cradles and constantly being faced upwards, I carefully thought the ceiling design. And it just came up to me – the most calming and relaxing choice for a ceiling would definitely be a clear blue sky pattern. So, I went with clear blue wallpaper designs and I bought small stars and a large moon to attach on it; while recreating the sky in my boys’ room, why not give them the stars as well?
Blue for boys
Although I do not belong to the hardcore conservative type of people who think that blue is strictly a male colour, I still think that it’s kind of more appealing for little baby boys. Plus, I chose a fresh nuance, so the room looks very bright. Since my husband said white walls, I had to improvise with the decorations – I got blue wallpapers for the supporting walls only; they are smaller which enabled me to keep the whiteness on the walls. I went with floral blue wallpaper designs for one side, and for the other one, I chose blue and white stripes. Why not make it lively and playful?
Blue flooring
I still haven’t gotten to that moment, but when the time comes and my boys are old enough, I’m going to give the room a real blue vibe by making the floors vintage blue. Something like this:
This way, the blue room will have its blue colour pattern, and the walls will definitely stay white, because I’m not aiming for a colour mess.
These would be the starting points on my boys bedroom. I’m still collecting good ideas on details and layouts of furniture elements, so if you have any suggestions, please share them with me, they will be more then helpful.
